This test lasted a little over two hours. The oven got to 73.3°C and the desiccant lost 0.82 grams of weight.
Inspection of the desiccant afterward showed that the weight lost was mostly dripping from the pouch onto the bottom of the oven. The drippings were not entirely water as it was more viscous than water. We hypothesize that the viscous drippings is a solution of H2O and CaCl2.
We cooked the drippings on a hot plate to completely evaporate the water and got calcium oxide
